woman-using-laptopIn most email clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.), go to Tools > Accounts. There you will find a link to add a new account. There are many optional features available to you in email clients but only a few are required.

You will need to enter the following information in the create wizard:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Account/Username (your full email address)
  • Password
  • Incoming mail server (IMAP or POP3)
    • If you have an @acceleration.net email address, use mail.acceleration.net
    • If you have your own domain-name/website, use mail.YourDomain.com. For example, if your domain is FancyWidgets.com, use mail.FancyWidgets.com.
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
    • If you have an @acceleration.net email address, use mail.acceleration.net
    • If you have your own domain name, use mail.YourDomain.com. For example, if your domain is FancyWidgets.com, use mail.FancyWidgets.com.
    • If you do not have internet connectivity through Acceleration and you are unable to send mail out using either of the default ports (port 587 for STARTTLS, or port 465 for SSL/TLS), you may attempt to send out using port 8025 (this port supports STARTTLS).
You can generally find this option under the “More Settings”->”Advanced” tab within your email client.
If you’re unable to successfully send out mail, this modification is most likely required.
